Corbusier’s iconic residential building in Marsella serves as a basic reference for architects the world over. Planning for the project began right after World War II (1945-46).
Construction began in 1951. With space for 1,600 residents, the structures measures an immense 140 meters long, 24 meters wide and 56 meters high. Each floor contains 58 duplex apartments which can be accessed from a broad interior corridor every three floors.
