Esta casa es una manifestación del ritual sueco del sauna y los baños. Es un anexo de una granja antigua en Västra Karup, al sur de Suecia, convertida en casa de vacaciones por una familia de Malmö, cerca de allí. Aparte del sauna y los cuartos accesorios de vestuario, baños y relax, la Mill House es también una pequeña vivienda para huéspedes.

El rito tradicional del sauna incluye soportar un calor intenso e inmediatamente zambullirse en agua fría. La granja posee un arroyo que es insuficiente para este fin, por lo que una piscina fue construida junto al sauna.
El estudio Wingårdhs tiene dos sedes: la principal en Göteborg (Gotenburgo), en la costa oeste de Suecia, y la otra en Estocolmo. Esta última, menos importante en tamaño aunque estratégicamente situada en la capital, ocupa una reliquia arquitectónica de los 70, la Casa de Cristal de Jan Lunding.

This house is a manifestation of the Swedish ritual of sauna and bathing. It is an annex to a large old farm in the countryside of southern Sweden, converted into a vacation house for a family from the nearby city of Malmö. Apart from the sauna and attendant spaces for undressing, washing and relaxing, the Mill House is also a small dwelling. The traditional rite of sauna involves baking together and dashing out for an invigorating dip in a cold stream. The meagre creek on the property was insufficient for the purpose, however, so a small pool was built adjacent to the sauna. The exposed construction demanded carpentry of unusual excellence.
In combination with the intimate size, it promotes the atmosphere of a Zen master’s tea house.
