CASA RAC

RENOVATION OF A STONE HOUSE IN BOLOGNA’S APENNINES

The concept of Rural has its foundations in the will to recover and re-interpret the traditional constructive techniques
through the synergy that springs from the combination between these and the modern ways of living.
In this perspective becomes very important a particular sensitivity in the design approach,
which allows to give back its original look to the architectural object but also makes it able to conform to new necessities.

So in Casa Rac’s project is always visible a specific attention to materiality, highlighted by a dialectic between traditional materials and unexpected geometries, but also to research of innovative and charming planning solutions.
Everything is always accompanied by a careful study on the themes of the energy sustainability, so as giving back to its habitat a building that not only shows to be perfectly integrated and recovered but truly it is so.
Casa Rac is an historic building placed in a village of the Bologna’s Apennines. The entire building, which is spread over three floors, was built of local stone. The project aims to enhance the internal volumes and exalt the materiality inherent in this building through a dialectic between traditional materials and unexpected geometries. On the ground floor and first floor there's a sequence of spaces that make up the living area and relate directly to the rear courtyard area. On the second floor it was settled the sleeping area.
