La ciudad alemana de Muritz, en Mecklenburg, quería un edificio que pudiese servir como centro de promoción turística de la ciudad histórica y del lago próximo. La propuesta de Wingardh ganó el primer premio en el concurso.
El programa de 2.985m2 incluye áreas para exhibiciones temporales, un acuario, un teatro multimedia, un restaurante, salas para seminarios, tiendas y entretenimientos infantiles.
Dos conos ligeramente desplazados en planta dan forma al edificio. La forma circular se abre por medio de tajos, con la entrada principal en el más importante de ellos. Una delgada capa de vidrio encaja entre las dos pieles, hechas de maderas diferentes: una de ellas oscura, como fachada, y otra clara y suave en el interior. El carácter “flotante” del edificio responde a la relación con el lago y la forma circular favorece la calidad espacial interior.

Memoria original en inglés:: The German city of Muritz in Mecklenburg wanted a building that could serve as a visitors centre for the old town as well as for the lake landscape in the vicinities. Wingardhs proposal gained the first prise in the invited competition. The program of 2985 sqm contains areas for temporary exhibitions, an aquarium, a multimedia theatre, a gastronomic restaurant, room for seminars, shops and animation for children. Two cones slightly shifted in plan shape the building. The circular form opens up by sharp cuts, with the entrance cutting as the most prominent. The thin glass shield stands between two different kinds of wood panels: A burned, black, panel for the façade, and a blonde smooth panel for the inside. The “floating” character of the building corresponds to the setting in the lake, and the round shape generates spatial qualities of the interior.
